Asset Management Assistant

Salary: £25,992 (pro rata)

Hours: This role is 37 hours, and is available on a full-time, part-time, or job share basis. We offer other flexible work options, such as compressed hours. 

Contract: Permanent

Location: The role is based at Penrith, but you will work countywide 

Closing date: 11:59pm on Monday 21st April 2025

THE TEAM

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the Tech Service Department as an Asset Management Assistant. This is a newly formed team, so you’ll will be involved with shaping the future of the service.  

No day is the same in the department, and the team are focused on establishing and delivering an effective, high-quality service, that supports the wider organisation, and this is an exciting time to join and make a real impact.

There will be lots of opportunity for development and you will have the chance to attend training courses as part of this role.  

THE ROLE

This role will be based behind the scenes of the service, providing a function that will enable our operational staff to go out and support our communities.

  • You will make sure the Fire Appliances, Equipment, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) are in a high state of preparedness
  • You will help keep our Firefighters safe from contaminants by cleaning and preparing risk critical equipment, such as Breathing Apparatus
  • You will work closely with the Learning and Development team to clean and prepare our hot fire training facilities so we can provide realistic training environments for our staff
  • You will work across Cumbria to ensure our assets are in the right place, at the right time

The applicant we are looking for will be organised, motivated, and someone who can use their own initiative. You will have a thorough understanding of the operating context of a Fire and Rescue Service and a Category C Driving License.
