Information Governance/Data Protection Officer

Salary: £43,693 - £44,711 (pro rata)

Hours: This role is 37 hours, and is available on a full-time, part-time, or job share basis. We offer other flexible work options, such as compressed hours.

Fixed-term: Permanent  

Location: The team is based mainly at Penrith (Fire Headquarters), but we do encourage flexible working which also means working from another station or homeworking.

THE TEAM

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our service as the Information Governance and Data Protection Officer. You will be joining a friendly and proactive team who are passionate about compliance, delivering a high standard of customer service, and delivering improvements. You will engage with staff all across the service, specifically service specialists to ensure that corporate learning informs service improvement across all functions. 

THE ROLE

  • You will lead on the provision of comprehensive specialist advice, guidance, monitoring and training on the implications of the General Data Protection Regulations and other statutory access to information regimes.
  • You will fulfil the role of Data Protection Officer for the Service.
  • You will work ensure that employees, elected members and those working on behalf of the Service are fully informed of their own responsibilities for acting within the law and that the public are informed of their rights under the legislation.
  • This role will lead on the development and maintenance of systems for reporting regular management information and intelligence from complaints, commendations and other statutory access to information regimes.
  • You will also lead on the development and implementation of an 'open data’ approach ensuring that the Service’s approach to the transparency and openness is customer focused.
  • You'll lead on the Safeguarding programme within the Service.
